Description
Maxtra Drops is a pediatric combination medicine designed to relieve symptoms associated with the common cold, allergic rhinitis, and upper respiratory tract infections in infants and young children. It helps reduce nasal congestion, fever, sneezing, and watery eyes.
Composition
Each ml of Maxtra Drops contains:
Paracetamol – 100 mg (Pain reliever and fever reducer)
Phenylephrine Hydrochloride – 2.5 mg (Nasal decongestant)
Chlorpheniramine Maleate – 0.5 mg (Antihistamine)
Uses
Maxtra Drops are prescribed for:
Relief from common cold symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, and congestion
Reduction of fever and mild body pain
Management of allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis
Treatment of sinus congestion
Dosage
The dosage must be prescribed by a pediatrician based on the child’s weight and age.
It is usually administered 2–3 times daily.
Always use the calibrated dropper provided to ensure accurate dosing.
Side Effects
Possible side effects may include:
Mild drowsiness or sleepiness
Dry mouth
Upset stomach
Increased heart rate
Irritability (rare)
Most side effects are temporary. In case of serious reactions like breathing difficulty, rash, or swelling, immediate medical help should be sought.
Precautions
Use cautiously in infants with liver, kidney, or heart issues.
Do not combine with other medicines containing paracetamol to avoid overdose.
