Emigo Syrup

Description

Emigo Syrup is an antiemetic medication used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting in children. It is especially effective in managing vomiting caused by infections, motion sickness, chemotherapy, or post-surgery recovery.

Composition

Each 5 ml of Emigo Syrup contains:

• Ondansetron – 2 mg

Ondansetron is a selective serotonin 5-HT₃ receptor antagonist that works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance that can cause nausea and vomiting.

Uses

Emigo Syrup is prescribed for:

• Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting due to gastroenteritis

• Vomiting associated with chemotherapy or radiotherapy

• Post-operative nausea and vomiting

• Motion sickness (in some cases, under doctor’s advice)

Dosage

• The dosage depends on the child’s age, weight, and the cause of nausea.

• It is typically given 2–3 times a day or as directed by the pediatrician.

• Always use the provided measuring device for accurate dosing.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Headache

• Constipation

• Drowsiness or fatigue

• Dizziness

Rarely, allergic reactions or heart rhythm disturbances may occur. Seek immediate medical attention if serious symptoms develop.

Precautions

• Use cautiously in children with liver problems.

• Inform the doctor about any other medications being used, especially those affecting heart rhythm.

• Should be used only under medical supervision for young infants.
