Clavam Dry Syrup

Description

Clavam Dry Syrup is an antibiotic medicine designed for children to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It combines two powerful agents to provide effective action against infections in the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues.

Composition

After reconstitution, each 5 ml of Clavam Dry Syrup typically contains:

• Amoxicillin (as Amoxicillin Trihydrate) – 200 mg

• Clavulanic Acid (as Potassium Clavulanate) – 28.5 mg

• Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that kills bacteria.

• Clavulanic Acid prevents certain bacteria from becoming resistant to amoxicillin, enhancing its effectiveness.

Uses

Clavam Dry Syrup is prescribed for treating:

• Respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Ear infections (otitis media)

• Sinus infections (sinusitis)

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Urinary tract infections

Dosage

• The dosage is based on the child’s weight, age, and severity of infection.

• The syrup must be freshly reconstituted with water as per instructions and shaken well before each use.

• It is usually given 2–3 times daily or as directed by the pediatrician.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Diarrhea

• Nausea

• Vomiting

• Rash

• Abdominal pain

Rarely, serious allergic reactions may occur. Seek immediate medical help if the child develops swelling, difficulty breathing, or severe rash.

Precautions

• Inform the doctor about any history of allergies, especially to penicillin or other antibiotics.

• Use cautiously in children with liver or kidney issues.

• Complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve early, to prevent antibiotic resistance.

• Store the reconstituted syrup in the refrigerator and discard after the duration specified (usually 7 days).

Storage

• Store the dry powder at room temperature before reconstitution.

• After mixing with water, store in the refrigerator (2°C–8°C).

• Do not freeze.

• Keep out of reach of children.
